Somnoware

Modernising a clinical sleep-health diagnostics platform as part of ResMed's post-acquisition vision.

Overview

Somnoware is a clinical sleep-health diagnostics platform, now part of ResMed. As a product designer on the team, I work across the Somnoware Diagnostics product suite, prototyping and validating complex clinical workflows, strengthening the design system alongside engineering, and helping redefine the experience for physicians and administrators as the product is rebuilt to fit ResMed's future direction. Because this is live, ongoing and commercially sensitive work, the following is a high-level summary of my contributions rather than a detailed case study.

What I've worked on

A high-level look at where I've contributed across the Somnoware Diagnostics suite, kept deliberately light out of respect for the NDA.

High-fidelity prototyping and validation

I build high-fidelity Figma prototypes to test and validate complex clinical user workflows directly with consumers, using those sessions to de-risk decisions before engineering and to ensure the refreshed design system integrates seamlessly into a product front end optimised for React 19.

Auditing the design system against the build

Partnering with senior designers and engineering leads, I audit the design system against the live Storybook front-end components, reconciling design intent with what is actually shipped so the Somnoware Diagnostics product suite stays consistent and high quality as it grows.

Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA

I apply WCAG 2.2 AA standards throughout the work and actively look for opportunities to improve accessibility outcomes, making sure the platform is usable and inclusive for the clinicians, administrators and patients who rely on it every day.

A streamlined patient-messaging workflow

I designed a messaging user flow that lets Somnoware customers message patients directly, working hand in hand with engineers to take it from concept through to a shippable feature rather than handing off a static design. Folding messaging into the existing workflow keeps clinical teams in one place instead of switching tools, and moves Somnoware closer to being a one-stop shop for every diagnostics-related workflow our customers need. The feature is slated for release later in 2026 and ties directly into the modernisation effort, surfaced through Somnoware Assistant: a flyout that lets customers act on tasks in context, without having to drop back into the traditional list view to get things done.

Modernising Somnoware for ResMed

I am actively contributing to the Somnoware modernisation effort as we redefine and rebuild the product to fit ResMed's future vision post-acquisition. The core idea is to step away from the list-centric platform Somnoware has traditionally been and toward a dashboard that lets customers navigate the entire platform from one place. That means creating new workflows and simplifying existing ones to streamline what physicians and admins have to do, while aligning the experience aesthetically with ResMed's new design direction built on the Aura design system.
